Patience is ofter referred to as the most underused investing skill and virute. And, learning patience could help you reach your financial goals of wealth building and finacial freedom.

Be extremely patient when investing in assets and wait until you can buy an investment at an entry price when everybody else hates the investment or are extremely pessimistic about the prospects of the investment.

In other words, wait until you can buy the asset at a extremely discounted price.  Keep in mind that every investment is affected by what you pay for it.  The less you pay, the better your rate of return on that investment.  Never, Never, Never…overpay for an investment.

People feel losses twice as much as they feel gains.

Successful investors develop a number of valuable skills over their lifetimes. And many report that patience is the most important skill to learn and master, but often it goes underused.

We’re not born patient. But, patience can be learned and, if you’re an investor, learning it could help you reach your financial goals.

Patience often involves staying calm in situations where you lack control. Even if we’re patient in some parts of life, we have to practice and adapt to be patient in new situations. Just because you’re a patient person while waiting in line at the DMV doesn’t mean you’re a patient investor.

Alway keep in mind and retain the mantra that…if there is a good opportunity now, a better one will come in the future.

Yet, patience can be difficult for investors to master, why it’s an important investing skill and how to apply patience to investing.

Why Is it so Hard to Be Patient?
Simply put, your brain makes it hard to be patient. Human beings were designed to react to threats, either real or perceived. Stressful situations trigger a physiological response in people. You’ve likely heard this called the “fight-or-flight” response — either attack or run away, whatever helps alleviate the threat.

The problem is, your body doesn’t recognize the difference between true physical danger (during which fighting or fleeing would actually be helpful) and psychological triggers, like scary movies. Being patient is difficult because it means overcoming these natural instincts. Turbulent financial markets can trigger the response too but, unlike scary movies, there can be real-world impacts you’ll need patience to overcome.

When markets are seesawing and you’re overwhelmed with negative financial media, as we experienced this year during the pandemic-driven bear market, your brain perceives a threat to your financial well-being. Even though stock market volatility isn’t a physical threat, the fight-or-flight response kicks in, emotion takes over, and your brain starts telling you to do something. Your investment portfolio is being harmed! Take action! Now! With investing, action too often translates into selling something because selling feels like you’re shielding your portfolio from further harm. But selling at the wrong time — like in the middle of a major downturn — is one of the biggest investment mistakes you can make.

Impatient investors let anxiety and emotion rule their decision-making. Their tendency towards “doing something” can lead to detrimental investing behaviors: checking account balances too often, focusing on short-term volatility, selling or buying at the wrong time or abandoning a long-term strategic investment plan. And those bad behaviors could damage investors’ long-term returns.

Selling out of the market during a correction might feel like you’re taking prudent action. And you may even derive some pleasure in seeing the market continue to fall after you’ve sold your equities. But that pleasure could soon be replaced by regret, because consistently and correctly timing the market by selling and buying back in at the right time requires an incredible amount of luck — and we don’t know any investors who have that much luck.

Investment entry point and investor patience are super-important too.

Benjamin Graham, known as the “father of value investing,” knew the importance of patience in investing. Patience and investing are actually natural partners. Investing is a long-term prospect, the benefits of which typically come after many years. Patience, too, is a behavior where the benefits are mostly long-term. To be patient is to endure some short-term hardship for a future reward.

The importance of being patient when investing can be best summed in this quote by Benjamin Graham…“In the end, how your investments behave is much less important than how you behave.”

Compounding works exponentially for the patient investor. The power of compounding is one of the most important concepts that investors need to learn and embrace. Since, patient and time are better friends to the investor than experience, expertise, and even research.

Long-Term Planning

Dwight Eisenhower once said, “In preparing for battle I have always found that plans are useless, but planning is indispensable.” In simple terms, great investors, same as great leaders, are proactive in building wealth and they follow a plan.

Most retail investors don’t plan and just react to market volatility and events. Instead, investors should engage in long-term financial planning from the beginning with the intent to anticipate problems and come up with solutions.

“Nobody ever created a plan to be broke, bankrupt, behind in monthly payments, drowning in insurmountable credit card debt, or a financial failure. Those things are what happen when you don’t create or follow a plan.”

Planning helps you prepare for the potential challenges and keep you on track. And with an effective action plan, you can boost your productivity and keep yourself focused. The benefits of an action plan are:

  • It gives you a clear direction. As an action plan highlights exactly what steps to be taken and when they should be completed, you will know exactly what you need to do. 
  • Having your goals written down and planned out in steps will give you a reason to stay motivated and committed throughout the project.  
  • With an action plan, you can track your progress toward your goal.
  • Since you are listing down all the steps you need to complete in your action plan, it will help you prioritize your tasks based on effort and impact.

Failing to plan means planning to fail. That’s why you should create a action plan before making any financial or wealth building decisions, and then stick to the plan.  Whether you are deciding on investing in cryptocurrencies or acquiring real estate for your business,  it’s smart to do so with a list or plan of action that has your budget in mind.

A well-designed action plan can make it easier for you to track and realize your goals. For your personal goal, you can use an action plan to create a clear path to success.

An action plan is a document that lays out the tasks you need to complete in order to accomplish your goal. It also breaks up the process into actionable assignments based on a timeline. A good action plan will outline all the necessary steps to achieve your goal and help you reach your target efficiently by assigning a timeframe—a start and end date—to every step in the process.

Step 1: Define your end goal 

If you are not clear about what you want to do and what you want to achieve, you are setting yourself up for failure. Start by defining where you are and where you want to be. Analyze the situation and explore possible solutions before prioritizing them. 

Then write down your goal. And before you move on to the next step, run your goal through the SMART criteria. Or in other words, make sure that it is 

  • Specific – well-defined and clear
  • Measurable – include measurable indicators to track progress  
  • Attainable – realistic and achievable within the resources, time, money, experience, etc. you have
  • Relevant – align with your values and other wealth building goals 
  • Timely – has a finishing date or deadline

Step 2: List down the steps to be followed 

Once the goals are clear, the next step is to list all the tasks that you must perform to realize your goals and due dates. 

It’s important that you make sure that each task is clearly defined and is attainable. If you come across larger and more complex tasks, break them down to smaller ones that are easier to execute and manage. 

Step 3: Prioritize your tasks and add deadlines

It’s time to reorganize the list by prioritizing the tasks. Some steps, you may need to prioritize as they can be blocking other sub-steps. 

Add deadlines, and make sure that they are realistic. Consult with the person responsible for carrying it out to understand his or her capacity before deciding on deadlines. 

Step 4: Set Milestones 

Milestones can be considered mini goals leading up to the main goal at the end. The advantage of adding milestones is that they give you something to look forward to.

Start from the end goal and work your way back as you set milestones. Remember not to keep too little or too much time in between the milestone you set. It’s a best practice to space milestones two weeks apart.  

Step 5: Identify the resources and time needed

Before you start working on your tasks, it’s crucial to ensure that you have all the necessary resources at hand to complete the tasks. And if they are not currently available, you need to first make a plan to acquire them. 

This should also include your budget, any advisors and determine the cost of each task if there are any.  

Step 6: Visualize your action plan

The point is to create something that you can understand. Make sure that your action plan clearly communicates the elements – tasks, deadlines, resources, etc. This should be a working document that is kept updated and adjustable. 

Step 7: Monitor, evaluate and update

Allocate time to evaluate the progress you’ve made. You can mark tasks that are completed on the final action plan, bringing attention to how you’ve progressed toward the goal.

An action plan can also make it easier for you to monitor your progress toward your goals, allowing you to keep your projects on schedule and, if applicable, within budget.

Don’t get financial advice from NFL stars

When it comes to financial investing, investors should not rely on advice from professional athletes who promote crypto-currencies or currency trading platforms.

In November 2021, cryptocurrency market prices were skyrocketing to new heights and Bitcoin was one of the red-hot. Concurrently, two well-known NFL football players, Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers and Los Angeles Rams wideout Odell Beckham Jr., stated that they would accept a portion of their 2021 salaries in the cryptocurrency during a month when Bitcoin hit an all-time high of $68,906 per coin. 

As often happens with volatile currencies and investments, Bitcoin market price has crashed from that November peak to a nearly 52 percent dive, reaching a January bottom of $33,076.

If ever there were a case of buyer beware with the products athletes endorse, this would be it. Most especially when that “product” is actually a volatile form of currency that can cost investors massive sums of money.

The sad fact is that the vast majority of people don’t truly understand how cryptocurrency works. And that group also includes most professional athletes who have advisers paid to guide their investments, as well as agents who find commercial opportunities to endorse products like Bitcoin.

It’s been assumed that athlete such as Odell Beckham Jr. has take a substantial financial hit in pay with Bitcoin.

It was reported by Darren Rovell that Beckham’s entire salary is now worth only $413,000 USD equivalent in Bitcoin as opposed to the $750,000 USD guaranteed by the LA Rams football team, excluding taxes. Once federal and state taxes are factored in, Beckham is projected to make around $35,000.

Inflation – The Elephant Affecting the Economy

Historic inflation and interest rates hike fears are sinking many high growth technology stock prices. Inflation in 2021 was the consequences of rapidly rebounding demand in a supply-constrained world.

The fear of inflation and the the fear of subsequent Federal Reserve interest rate hikes are creating concern and panic among some investors. Rising interest rate and skyrocketing inflation worries are pressuring stocks. And by the Fed signaling raising rates in the future, it unsettles and sends both Wall Street and Main Street into a panic.

But, what is inflation?

Inflation is when consumer prices rise, goods and services become more expensive, and money loses value. Inflation reduces your purchasing power, eats away at your investment returns, and chips away at your wealth. Currently, Americans are experiencing the pernicious effects of inflation, especially in the areas of escalating food and energy prices.

2021 was one of the worst years for inflation that Americans have seen recently, with a 7% increase, the highest since 1982. For consumers, this means $1 at the beginning of the year was roughly worth only $0.93 at the end. While the impact might seem small when examining it on a dollar level, it represents a change in the purchasing power of retirement savings from January 2021 to December 2021. The Wall Street Journal’s Gwynn Guilford writes: “U.S. inflation hit its fastest pace in nearly four decades last year as pandemic related supply and demand imbalances, along with stimulus intended to shore up the economy, pushed price up at a 7% annual rate.”

American economist and Nobel prize laureate Milton Friedman opined that: “Inflation is always and everywhere a monetary phenomenon.”  In other words, inflation is invariably a case of too much cheap money and capital chasing too few goods, services and assets.

In the last twenty years, the United States witnessed a large accumulation of federal public debt under Presidents Bush, Obama, Trump, and Biden administrations. Federal debt climbed from 55% of GDP in 2002 to 105% in 2019. Additionally, the U.S. has also endured a decade plus of loose monetary policy overseen by the Fed which has pumped up asset prices.

As a result of the escalating public debt and loose monetary policy, the Federal Reserve most important immediate task, of its dual mandates, must be to get inflation under control and reduced. Since 1977, the Federal Reserve has operated under a mandate from Congress to “promote effectively the goals of maximum employment, stable prices, and moderate long term interest rates”—what is now commonly referred to as the Fed’s “dual mandate.”

The Labor Department stated that the consumer-price index — which measures what consumers pay for goods and services — rose 7% in December from the same month a year earlier, up from 6.8% in November. That was the fastest growth in inflation since 1982 and marked the third straight month in which inflation exceeded 6%.”

Three sectors–energy/materials, financials and technology–may be viewed as inflation beneficiaries or, at the very least, inflation-agnostic assets:

  • Energy and materials are commodity-based, and oil, gas, and most commodities rebounded from prices that had fallen to a fraction of their pre-pandemic levels.
  • Financials, especially banks, are often viewed as inflation hedges since interest rates historically climb when inflation heats up. This reflects the eroding effect of higher prices on a currency’s value in the future, which is remedied by rate hikes on debt.
  • Technology is a more nuanced winner in the inflation game. The large tech players and most software companies have tremendous economies of scale. As their revenues scale, their costs, particularly labor, do not grow at nearly the same degree, cushioning profit compression from wage escalation.

In a book called “The Great Inflation”, the authors wrote, “Inflation is not an Act of God…inflation is man-made and can be started, prevented, regulated and stopped by human action.”

“To think that a stimulus of this magnitude wouldn’t cause inflation required believing either that such a huge adjustment was possible within a matter of months, or that fiscal policy is ineffective and does not increase aggregate demand. Both views are implausible”, says Jason Furman, former chair of President Obama’s Council of Economic Advisers.

Thus, slowing down in aggregate federal debt growth per capita, tightening monetary policy, and raising interest rates could be effective tools in stemming runaway inflation.

Discounted Cash Flow

Investments are the discounted present value of all future free cash flow.

Discounted cash flow (DCF) is a method of investment valuation in which future cash flows are discounted back to a present value using the time-value of money.

Present value (PV) is a financial calculation that measures the worth of a future amount of money or an investment’s future cash flow in today’s dollars adjusted for interest and inflation. In other words, it compares the buying power of one future dollar to purchasing power of one today.

PV is an indication of whether the money an investor receives today can earn a return in the future. Investors calculate the present value of a firm’s expected cash flows to decide if the stock is worth investing in today.

An investment’s worth is equal to the present value of all projected discounted future cash flows.

Discounted cash flow is a way of evaluating a potential investment by estimating future income streams and determining the present worth of all of those cash flows in order to compare the cost of the investment to its return.

When an investor is trying to determine how to spend capital, it is important to determine whether or not investments will result in a positive return. The DCF method allows an investor to determine the value of the future projected cash flow in today’s dollars. An investor can subtract the amount spent on the investment from the present value of future cash flows to calculate the net present value of the investment.

In other words, they can calculate how much money the investment will make in today’s dollars and compare it with the cost of the investment. NPV and Internal Rate of Return are the methods used in Discounted Cash Flow.

The Net Present Value (NPV) represents the present value of cash flow. The NPV can also be called as the difference between the present values of cash inflow and cash outflow. To calculate the net present value of an investment using the discounted cash flows method:

Example – an investor is considering investing in property that would cost his LLC $1,000,000 and he hold it for 5 years. What is the net present value of this investment using the discounted cash flows method?

The investor determined the discount rate to be 10%. With this information, he calculated the following future discounted cash flows:

  • Year 1 = $130,000
  • Year 2 = $150,000
  • Year 3 = $200,000
  • Year 4 = $210,000
  • Year 5 = $200,000

The total projected cash flows is $890,000.

The net present value of this investment is $890,000-$1,000,000 which is equal to -$110,000.

In this example, an investor should not make this investment because the original cost (cost basis) is greater than the value of the future discounted cash flow creating a negative return over the time period.

As in this example, the DCF is compared with the initial investment. If the DCF is greater than the original cost, the investment is profitable. The higher the DCF, the greater return the investment generates. If the DCF is lower than the present cost, investors should rather hold the cash.

An investor’s expected cash flows are at a discount rate that is actually the expected return. The discount rate is inversely correlated to the future cash flows. The higher the discount rate, the lower the present value of the expected cash flows.

The NPV represents the present value of cash flow and is generally used for comparing both the internal and the external investments of a company. DCF is a method to calculate the value of an investment based on the present value of its future cash flow.

A Stock’s Price vs. a Company’s Intrinsic Value

Value investing is one of the most popular ways to find great stocks in any market environment. Value investing represents an approach to investing, where investors evaluate the fundamentals or intrinsic values of companies rather than estimating the future market prices of stocks. The definition of a value stock, for our purposes, is a stock that is underpriced by the market or due to volatility relative to its worth or fundamentals.

Value investing is about finding stocks that are either flying under the radar and are compelling buys, or offer up tantalizing discounts when compared to fair value (or intrinsic value). According to Investopia, intrinsic value is a measure of what an asset is worth. In short, it’s the underlying value of a company and its cash flow.

The idea of value investing involves purchasing great stocks of companies priced by the market well below their intrinsic values, which can give investors a margin of safety. The margin of safety comes from buying good companies at cheap prices. It comes from buying good companies that you understand, and to do so at a discount to companies estimated intrinsic value. That discount is where the margin of safety comes from.

Great stocks shouldn’t get cheap. But sometimes they are.

Value investing also allows traders to detach from their emotions of fear and greed when stock prices fluctuate. It enables them to hold the stocks for long-term rather than buying and selling if they’re feeling wildly optimistic or pessimistic because of stock price and market volatility.

Price and value differ:

  • Price is what something can be purchased or sold for at a given time. Price fluctuates.
  • Value is what something is worth, it fluctuates less.
  • Identify the right price at which to buy stock
  • Hold quality stocks fearlessly during market swings

Value investors understand that over time, the market price of a stock will converge with its actual fundamental worth or intrinsic value. But at a single point in time, it may not. And those single points are enough to purchase good companies cheap or below its intrinsic value.

Value investors also understand that there always comes a time when glamorous businesses stop getting priced like rock stars, and start getting priced like businesses.

Over time, the average price of an asset does converge to the average worth of that asset. But in the short term they can be wildly different, since stock prices fluctuate unpredictably.  But company values stay relatively steady.  This insight is the basis of value investing, according to Kenneth Jeffrey Marshall, author of the investing book, “Good Stocks Cheap: Value Investing with Confidence for a Lifetime of Stock Market”.

The occasions when a stock price is far away from a company’s intrinsic value is when a patient value investor acts.

Value investing is buying companies for less than they’re worth…their intrinsic value. According to the Kenneth Jeffery Marshall, professor, value investor, and the author of “Good Stocks Cheap”, best value investing procedures to utilize include:

  • Do you understand the company
  • Is it a good company:
    • Has it been historically good
    • Will it be good in the future
    • Is it shareholder friendly
  • Is the stock price cheap or at what price will the company’s stock become cheap (margin of safety)

The secret of successful investing: Staying invested and patience. Stock prices can be volatile and can fluctuate unpredictably in the short term.  But the intrinsic values of companies stay relatively steady. Thus, you should chose to invest in companies selling for less than they are worth (intrinsic value) and not over pay for a company.

One way to find companies is by looking at several key metrics and financial ratios, many of which are crucial in the value stock selection process. There are several key metrics that value investors look at, which include:

  • Price to Earnings Ratio (PE). PE shows you how much investors are willing to pay for each dollar of earnings in a given stock. The best use of the PE ratio is to compare the stock’s current PE ratio with: a) where this ratio has been in the past; b) how it compares to the average for the industry/sector; and c) how it compares to the market as a whole.
  • Price/Sales ratio. P/Sales compares a given stock’s price to its total sales, where a lower value is generally considered better. This metric is preferred more than other value-focused ones because it looks at sales, something that is far harder to manipulate with accounting tricks than earnings. The best use of P/S ratio to compare it to the S&P 500 average. Also, you can evaluate the trend of the stock’s P/Sales over the past few years.
  • Price/Earnings to Growth ratio (PEG). PEG ratio is another great indicator of value. PEG ratio is a stock’s price-to-earnings (P/E) ratio divided by the growth rate of its earnings for a specified time period. The PEG ratio is used to determine a stock’s value while also factoring in the company’s expected earnings growth, and it is thought to provide a more complete picture than the more standard P/E ratio. A lower PEG may indicate that a stock is undervalued.

The reality is that some of your selected stocks will lose money. That’s why it is important to diversify your investments, so that losses in a stock may be outweighed by gains in other stocks.

Strength of value investing

Deep value factors, such as book-to-price or tangible book-to-price, usually rally first, when actual levels of rates are still low, says Boris Lerner, Global Head of Quantitative Equity Research. Other value factors, such as earnings yield or free-cash-flow yield, tend to pick up later, as rates rise above trend.

Rising interest rates are the primary reason value investing has staying power. When inflation and rising interest rates are trending higher, it can clip the wings of pricey growth stocks, whose valuations are predicated on future returns, which make pricier growth stocks less appealing. When rates go up, it instantly raises the bar on far-out profits needed to justify today’s stock prices.

Because value names are typically mature companies with valuations based on current cash flow, rising rates don’t have the same impact. At the same time, many traditional value sectors, such as financials, directly benefit from rising rates.

Put the strength of value investing to work for you. In a nutshell, the basic tenet of value investing is paying less for a company than its worth.

The reason you think the way you do about money is conditioning. You were taught how to think about money. You weren’t born with money thoughts and beliefs. You learned them. You were conditioned around money, success, and wealth by:

  • Verbal programming – what you’ve heard,
  • Modeling – what you’ve seen,
  • And specific incidences and experiences you’ve had.

No personal wealth mental blueprint is true or false or right or wrong, says Eker. It’s just how you’ve been programmed. Some people are savers. Others are spenders.

There are several important question to ask yourself: What is your current wealth and success blueprint, and what results is it subconsciously moving you toward? Are you set for working hard for your money or are you set to have your money work hard for you? Are you programmed for saving money or for spending money? Are you programmed for managing your money well or mismanaging it?

There’s simply too much uncertainty, and no one can accurately predict or time the market. To successfully time the market, it requires a level of precision that nobody’s been able to achieve. Always remember, only a small number of days provide a huge proportion of total growth. Missing them can completely derail your long-term performance.

CNBC Mad Money Host Jim Cramer made his comments after the stock market indexes moved higher after a previous major market downturn due to COVID-19 Omicron variant concerns and fear. Wall Street experienced a strong melt-up session led by the technology heavy Nasdaq Index’s 3% jump.

Markets had sold off sharply on November 26, with the Dow, S&P 500 and Nasdaq all losing more than 2% in market cap value as investors knee-jerked reacted to the discovery of the Omicron variant.

“I want you to use it as a reminder that, most of the time, it pays to wait for cooler heads to prevail rather than freaking out in a situation where everyone else is freaking out and lost their heads without complete information,” Cramer said.

“Look, it would’ve been great if you bought stocks something near the lows—that’s what I urged you to do, actually, even if you had to hold your nose because we were simply too oversold. I was relying on technicals,” Cramer said. “But the cardinal sin here was selling stocks out of fear, rather than sitting tight out of rationality.”

The obvious takeaway for investors is that fear and panic are not sound investment strategies, “…unless you’re deliberately trying to lose money.” Never make permanent investment decisions based on temporary market circumstances.

People generally think they know what they want, but in practice, they do not. Generally, they don’t know what they really want in life or want to do. Additionally, they don’t know where to start, don’t have a plan, and don’t where to look for help to change that.

American author Mark Twain said he could teach anyone how to get what they want; he just couldn’t find anyone who truly knew what they wanted. Being unclear on what you want is one of the biggest stumbling blocks to getting what you want and success. Paul Meyer, founder of Success Motivation Institute, says if you’re not achieving the success you desire, it’s simply because your objectives are not clearly defined. Your goals need to be written, specific and measurable.

Hundred of thousands of people live there lives without purpose or goals. If you don’t want to spend your life wandering aimlessly, you should dedicate your waking hours determining exactly what you want in life and making plans to achieve those goals.

Knowing what you want.

If you don’t know what you really want in life, you’re not alone. While most people may think they know what they want, they’re often wrong.

Positive mindset, attitude and focus are vitally important attributes. The attributes are required to reach your goals and to realize your dreams. Thus, you should have a real understanding that you are responsible and capable of creating your reality regardless of the various obstacles you might encounter along the way. According to Inc. Magazine, here are six steps to help you achieve what you want:

1. Make a decision to have what you want, even if you don’t know how to get it. Most people are tentative when it comes to being specific. Instead, be confident in declaring what you want and be comfortable with the fact that you don’t yet have a plan, but you do know what you want.

2. Be clear about the details of the outcome. You should focus on what you do want, not what you don’t want. Practice visualizing yourself in the situation you want to create. You must be clear about what you want, like financial freedom, finding the perfect partner or a happy life. You must imagine the look, feel and sound of the perfect situation for you in your life.

3. Detach from the process. Not knowing “how” to do something holds many people back. The “how to do it,” instructions will appear after you have clearly defined what you want.

4. Believe in yourself and expect that it will happen. You need to believe in yourself and in the creative process. Winners expect to win. A shortage of belief causes many people to give up or never begin in the first place. Believe and set an expectation that what you want will, in fact, appear. It may not appear in the way you thought or at the precise time. You may even experience frustration, anxiety or impatience trying to control the outcome.

6. Practice gratitude. Be thankful for the things you have in your life right now. Look at your challenges as opportunities to grow. When you practice being thankful for specific events in your life, even when you don’t understand why they appear in your life, your ability to manifest accelerates almost to the speed of thought.

Getting what you want is not always simple and easy. Challenges, emotions, other people’s negative views and comments can set you back. But in the end, it all comes back down to your choice, commitment, effort and most of all…attitude. It’s essential to choose what you want, believe in your abilities, trust the process, have faith that it will happen and embrace the right attitude.

That is why “attitude is everything”.

“Attitude is everything,” according to Meyers. “It doesn’t matter where you are or what you’re doing, it all has to do with attitude. And then I have an I will-not-be denied attitude. “When winners choose a goal, their commitment to achieving it is firm and steadfast,” says Meyers. “When winners are confronted with hurdles or run into stumbling blocks, they go over them or turn them into stepping stones. Winners pursue their goals persistently until they succeed.”
